Not counting time asleep or Sundays, I spent 5,616 hours providing child care in 2017. If paid at the Oakland minimum wage of $13.23, that’s $74,299.68
I have been faxing my invoices and time sheets to local and state officials in California as well as the federal government for my unpaid child care wages with a plea for universal child care. As line items I include hours spent on housework and the opportunity cost of staying at home. So far I've sent over 1,000 faxes - every member of the lower and upper chambers of Congress with a fax number has received one.
